Following a 6 month secondment to Oxford University Press, I joined their legal team on a permanent basis providing legal support to its Academic Division in the United Kingdom, USA, Canada and India. The role included advising on a wide range of publishing and general commercial matters (both contentious and non-contentious), including contracts, copyright and trademarks, data protection, licensing and sales matters.

Covering a diverse range of both contentious and non-contentious issues including:• commercial IP agreements relating to the acquisition, exploitation, co-existence and assignment of IPRs;• promotional / endorsement agreements and creative agency agreements;• website terms and conditions / privacy policies / terms of use;• advising clients on social media issues such as use of content on social media sites and take down programmes;• IPR portfolio management for clients in a variety of industries;• IPR enforcement; and• Retailer clearance programmes.

2009-2010 - I spent a year in Rouse’s Vietnam office covering the full range of IP work including:• IPR portfolio management;• enforcement programmes utilising civil, criminal and administrative avenues;• advising clients on entering the Vietnam market and setting up Vietnamese companies;• supporting client’s local branches; and• lobbying. 2005 – 2009 - Rouse Commercial IP Team covering work including:• publishing;• acquisition and assignment of IPRs;• agency and distribution agreements;• website terms and conditions / privacy policies / terms of use;• IPR licences; and• manufacturer / supplier agreements.2005 - I spent 6 months on secondment to an international diy retailer’s legal team where my focus was on general commercial agreements and data protection issues. 2002-2004 - I joined Rouse & Co as a paralegal in the Dispute Resolution Team working on large scale multi-jurisdictional anti-counterfeiting programmes for clients in the mobile phone, clothing, oil and confectionary industries working with agents round the world taking administrative, civil, criminal and customs actions against infringers.
