Patsy is a possibility thinker, and creative motivator. She is often called a "mover and a shaker"​ - she gets things done.Her chosen profession is that of an educator, however the profound experience of loosing her first son, Derian due to long-term illness has given her new prospective on life. This experience was the catalyst behind she and her husband creating the non-profit Spare Key. Patsy and Robb were awarded Oprah Winfrey's "Use Your Life"​ Award in 2000 for their work with Spare Key. She writes about her experience with Derian in her book "Mothering An Angel"​. Exerts of her book have been published in Chicken Soup for the Couples Soul, and Volunteer Soul. She is currently teaching at Eagan High School which allows her to combine her life experiences and connections to create meaningful educational experiences for students, as they explore their passions and career options. There is nothing more thrilling then connecting a young person to their future. In addition to teaching Patsy is the prom advisor. Last year over 715 students attended this event.Patsy speaks at women's and youth events, conferences, grief groups and Spare Key functions sharing her personal journey.
