Senior Responsible Owner of the programme, leading an expert team that speaks both parliamentary and programme languages to secure agreement on the way forward for the programme, and direct and assure the work of the Delivery Authority Ltd.

Delivered a major workplace and moves transformation programme under budget and on time for the House of Commons in challenging lockdown conditions with thousands of colleagues successfully transitioned to hybrid workplaces across acquisition/fitout/decommissioning of 8 buildings on the parliamentary estate via a multidisciplinary team within a complex political stakeholder environment.

Proud to have delivered cultural and organisational change to develop a more representative, inclusive and diverse Estates team. As Operations Director I led the teams supporting the largest operational team in Parliament and serving both Houses, including the Portfolio Management Office, handling and assuring the £350m portfolio of capital works on a working estate (including the historic Palace of Westminster).

On the Management Board of the House of Commons setting organisational strategy, and improved customer experience for MPs and their teams, colleagues, job applicants and visitors using customer journey mapping across teams; introduced a lasting feedback system and staff recognition scheme.

Led a programme to improve service delivery by colocating knowledge workers from both Select Committees and the House of Commons Library and refurbish two buildings while leading a team briefing MPs on all environmental, agriculture and energy policy and legislation.

Member of the Parliament’s Leadership Group (Board) setting organisational strategy. Operational responsibility for research services to the Parliament and its committees, and for official publications, FOI policy, outreach and information services. Senior Responsible Owner for the website replacement and turned around and delivered the Information Management Programme for the organisation.

Established the impartial research service for the new Scottish Parliament and built the team

The environmental specialist for the House of Commons Library research service; later a senior statistician, advising MPs of all parties and briefing on emerging and existing legislation and policy

Following on from my post doc research and temporary lectureship at Bristol University, I was awarded a three year research fellowship at Cambridge, which I resigned to join public service
