As the Clinical Nurse Specialist I am involved in facilitating the quality of care of complex patient populations through facilitation, support and education of nursing staff as well as patients. This position works within the Enterprise for Perioperative Services. Interprets TJC, CMS, AORN, ASPAN, AMI, IAHCSMN, AMMI and other regulatory agencies. provided the necessary skills, guidance and education to patients/families and staff to insure that the care provided is efficient and cost effective as well as being safe and of the highest quality for perioperative services.Assists the direct caregiver with educating patients and families. Investigated outbreaks and reported findings to the appropriate governing bodies.Conduct on-going surveillance using Center of Disease Control (CDC) infection criteria, documentation, and investigation of nosocomial infections through review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, consultation requests, post-discharge surveillance, and autopsy findings.Report all in-house patients with communicable disease to the county and/or state health department and maintain appropriate records.
