Archival intern for the “Text to Teeth” research project (Home of #TeamNun) working in a bio-archaeology lab headed by Dr. Alison Beach. Catalogue photos taken of assemblages and form larger excel sheets of data for the team—expertise in LabArchives software. Digitize data, manage data, and ensure that the lab has access to images taken during research. The research is focused on religious and monastic women in the medieval period. Lab recently received £1.5 million research grant to continue work.

Editor of the Rhodes Historical Review (RHR), a student-edited journal published by the college’s Phi Alpha Theta chapter. Selects 4-5 student works to publish, edits the submissions over the spring semester, and, ultimately, publishes the work in a student-edited journal. In 2012, the American Historical Association awarded the journal and one of its authors, Daniel Williford ’11, its top prize for undergraduate research in history, the Raymond J. Cunningham Prize.

Worked in the Rhodes College Archive under the supervision of Bill Short cataloging the Edwin Howard Collection. Cataloged newspaper clippings, playbills, photographs, and other miscellaneous paper products related to Edwin Howard, an important theater critic in Memphis, TN.

Research Assistant for Professor Jonathan Judaken of the Rhodes College History Department. Transcribed and cited primary sources for Judeophobia sourcebook. Researched secondary scholarly sources for articles and found public domain primary source material for the project. During the summer portion of the fellowship, research was also conducted under Professor Ifft-Decker and Professor Saxe. For Professor Ifft-Decker, secondary source research regarding medieval Jewish women was completed. For Professor Saxe, transcription work on the Stars and Stripes magazine from the Mediterranean and Algiers during 1943.

Researched remotely for the head curator July Biddlecombe-Brown, finding portraits and images of the Neville family who owned the castle in the Late Medieval/Early Modern period. Catalogs images of the portraits in an excel sheet with information regarding the provenance of the image: which member(s) of the Neville family are depicted, the date, the artist(s), and the materials used.

Remotely interned and assisted Holly Whitfield during her time working at Memphis Heritage. Produced graphics for the Memphis Heritage Instagram and Facebook pages and helped with Donor Events and Educational Series.

Actively pursued and was selected for a competitive ambassadorship at the Atlanta History Center to increase community involvement with history. Written application and in-person interview required. Volunteer hours are well in excess of minimum expected contribution. Designed, pitched, and started plans for ideas for teenage events at the history center.
