Patsy WilsonExecutive Director, Solace for the Children, Inc.Vice President, Solace AfghanistanPatsy served as a North Carolina educator for nearly 30 years. In 1997, the desire to offer children a strong advocate and hope for the future motivated Patsy and her husband, Dick, to help establish an organization to address medical, dental and optical needs of international children. In 2007, the focus of the organization shifted to the children of Afghanistan. To date, Solace for the Children has brought more than 150 Afghan children into the US for medical treatment, respite from the violence of war and a chance to be children! In 2012 Solace opened its second office in Afghanistan, located in Herat. Early in 2013, the Kabul operation expanded opening the Solace Peace House. This oasis of peace and security houses up to 20 children allowing them to go to school, some for the first time! Working in partnership with the students of American University of Afghanistan in Kabul, Peace House children work after school with university students to expand or clarify lessons. Solace, internationally recognized as building peace on a foundation of health, lives out its mission every day! Patsy now serves the children of Afghanistan through her work as the Executive Director of Solace for the Children and Vice President of Solace Afghanistan. The goal continues to be clear... Establish a Solace Community in each of our 50 states for the purpose of building peace at the grassroots level!
