The Libbi Thomas Foundation Supports scientific discovery and research associated with Down Syndrome and its link to Alzheimers Disease.Advances in function, well-being and life span for people with Down syndrome have revealed an additional health risk: As they age, individuals affected by Down syndrome have a greatly increased risk of developing a type of dementia that’s either the same as or very similar to Alzheimer’s disease. By partnering with the Research Team at Harvard and Massachusetts General our mission is to educate the public and help eradicate this diagnosis by raising funds to that the research study will be ongoing.

In her role as Senior System Director of Advocacy and Public policy Patti Harper oversaw all legislative initiatives in both state legislatures and before Congress. She was responsible for developing and implementing the lobbying strategy and all policy development to support the strategy of CHRISTUS Health. She worked closely with the Catholic Health Association, serving as a member of the CHA Regulatory Advisory Committee. She had responsibility for all legislative initiatives relative to the CHRISTUS Health Advocacy Leadership agenda.She is an expert on grassroots strategy and lead the CHRISTUS System reform initiative to develop and promote the “Putting Care Within Reach” campaign which reached throughout the country promoting coverage for all with Dignity, Integrity, Excellence, Compassion and Stewardship. During Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, she served as the liaison with Members of Congress and FEMA to acquire military planes that evacuated more than 400 patients and also arranged for a CHRISTUS team to fly into Haiti and care for individuals after the 2010 earthquake. She is well known in the health care policy world in Washington and meets frequently with senior level policy makers, key national opinion leaders, and Members of Congress and Committee leadership and staff, to accomplish the CHRISTUS Health’s national policy leadership agenda.
