Leader of Deloitte’s Insurance Accounting & Reporting Advisory ("ARA") practice in New England. Responsible for overseeing the execution and delivery of services targeted at helping clients solve their most complex and challenging projects, including technical accounting support, new accounting standard implementation (i.e., Targeted Improvements to the Accounting for Long-Duration Contracts), internal control assessment, testing and remediation as well as other process and operational improvement projects.

- Provide functional expertise to lead and direct in-depth analyses of key claims risk metrics, trending, budget and costs- Collaborates with Claims, Finance and Valuation leaders to develop strategic recommendations to mitigate risk and to ensure strategic alignment between operational areas and financial objectives.- Provide oversight to Group Protection’s Claims Quality Assurance program and partner with claims operational leaders to provide value added feedback on claims handling and risk mitigation opportunities.- Deploys claims risk resources to analyze and recommend actions to ensure appropriate claims handling.- Directs cause/effect analyses and the evaluation of alternative means to reduce the organizations exposure to risk & loss; leads the development of remediation plans and risk mitigation strategies.- Directs senior-level claims risk resources to review individual claims/blocks of claims and to partner with claim operational leaders to identify areas of opportunity for improved risk management.- Directs team to analyze and report on budget trends for the Claims function, working with senior Claims and other operational leaders to identify trends and understand factors leading to budget variance, etc.- Establishes and directs the strategy for analysis of claims risk trends and financial outcomes for various metrics

Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all activities, practices, policies and procedures related to LMB's accounting and reporting functions. These activities include the development of all accounting records, preparation of financial statements, and reporting and analysis of operating results. Also responsible for managing and guiding the LMB's internal control efforts, including annual Sarbanes-Oxley reporting, the external audit, and effectively communicating with functional partners regarding internal audit plans, execution, results and remediation of findings.Collaborate with internal and other business partners to support both on-going and ad-hoc accounting, reporting and internal control requirements.

Supervised and managed the audit procedures and engagement economics for large and mid-size life and property and casualty insurers• Reviewed audit and attest engagements to ensure compliance with Deloitte and Touche LLP policies and professional standards, with a focus on insurance engagements• Lead Senior Manager of the Insurance Operations of a large life insurer, one mid-size property & casualty insurer, and other clients across a diverse client base of public and privately held domestic entities.• Supervised and managed engagement economics of an $8 million life insurance company audit with a focus on development of the audit plan, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, assigning of workloads to the 123 deliverables throughout the year, including six statutory audits and other financial reporting under for multiple bases of accounting (including US GAAP, Statutory accounting, and Canadian GAAP).• Managed the Sarbanes-Oxley implementation at a large life insurer consisting of 10,000 hours of effort and the subsequent adoption of AS5 which resulted in a 50% reduction of audit hours• Researched and resolved technical accounting/auditing issues in relation to business combinations , credit crisis impacts on actuarially determined balances, and numerous statutory, US GAAP, and Canadian GAAP insurance specific issues as they arise• Participated in the initial public offering (S-1) of a property & casualty insurer
