Everyone ages differently. As the leader of an independently run healthcare facility in Portsmouth, NH, I’m passionate about advocating for the highest practical level of health and independence with the utmost respect, compassion and dignity for the elderly. That’s why every decision we make at the Edgewood Centre is in the best interest of the people we’ve been entrusted to serve. It’s what resident-focused care is all about. For nearly four decades, I’ve remained active in state committees and healthcare associations to advocate on behalf of our elders and the dedicated caregivers that serve them. I’ve testified on several occasions before legislators in Concord to educate others on the critical roles of long-term care facilities play and the intricacies of our highly regulated industry. I found my calling as an advocate for resident-focused care. However, somewhere along the line, I had another realization: I couldn’t do it alone. I needed a senior team that shared my resident-focused philosophy. With that, I started building my leadership team. My goal was to create a community that could not only meet the full spectrum of unique needs for each person in our care but could also simultaneously create a work environment that allowed each team member to thrive and feel supported. Besides being leaders, most members of our team are also licensed nursing assistants and go above and beyond to help make this philosophy a reality.Our dedicated team of caregivers is the heart and soul of what we do and the reason for our excellent reputation. We are ranked a best nursing home by U.S. News & World Report and in 2020 were given a 5-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services – the highest rating possible.
