My passion is working with people to empower themselves by building a solid relationship with themselves, their community and the human family. My career began as a grass roots community organizer, bringing neighbors together to solve community problems. Learning our common concern: I founded the Austin Community School, using existing infrastructure and resources. This was a model of learning, targeted for all ages, later adopted across the United States and internationally. Building this organization was not easy, the most significant hurdle overcoming conflict and finding common ground. Wanting a shortcut through these quagmires, I pursued my PhD. with the focus of on negotiating conflict between and within stakeholder groups, personal or in career. Applying my learning, I served the State of Texas as the Budget Director for Health and Human Services. From there, the Kellogg Foundation selected me for their three-year National Leadership Fellowship, meeting with leaders throughout the world, and learning approaches to solving significant problems (economic development, HIV, Ivory Trade, and Poverty). Upon completing the Fellowship, I started my organizational consulting firm serving start-ups, and non-for-profits. Loving the outdoors and wanting to add an experiential component to leadership training, I co-founded the Wilderness Forum, designed to enjoy the connecting with nature while increasing self-observation, initiative, risk-taking, and team building skills. I seek a deeper understanding of people and group dynamics helping clients achieve their goals, while obtaining my certifications in psychotherapy and a system approaches to group and organizational development. Today, I integrate cumulative learning with experience on how to make a significant difference. My clients include executive coaching, individual and relationship growth, working for meaning.
