Patty was a sales rep for both IBM and DEC. The sales training was both intense and thorough. Many innovations proliferated quickly. Then, these 'high tech' computer companies were just introducing the concept of Local and Wide Area 'Networks' to more easily distribute information and more effectively facilitate communication both within organizations and around the world. Due to costs and 'change', concensus for these purchases often required 'buy-in' at multiple levels within corporate structures. Among the many attributes emphasized for Sales Reps was focus on truly 'listening' to the client...demeanor, body language, feedback. I liken this experience to buying a home.
