At this full-service boutique law firm, I had the unique opportunity to draft an Appellant's Opening Brief, an Anti-SLAPP Motion, an Opposition to Anti-SLAPP motion, demurrers, motions to strike and oppositions to several demurrers and motions to strike. I have propounded and prepared responses to written discovery requests. I have also participated in several mediations and arbitrations and successfully negotiated the settlement of several litigation matters. I have defended employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, and various wage and hour claims. I also advised corporate clients on various employment law and wage and hour issues with a focus on preventing potential employment claims being raised against them, including terminating, hiring and disciplining employees. I have also drafted hiring and termination documents and internal employment policies, including employee handbooks and meal waivers. Additionally, I prepare and file applications trademarks, respond to any Office Actions, and advise clients on trademark matters. I have drafted cease and desist letters and demand letters, and drafted several corporate documents, including a master service agreement and membership interest transfer agreement. I have also assisted clients with forming, maintaining and dissolving their business entities.

I drafted motions, PAGA notices and complaints, including an opposition to a motion for intervention by a third-party. I have conducted legal research on novel topics, such as the use of survey evidence to prove liability in a motion for class certification. I oversaw a group of contract attorneys in completing a project related to certifying class members for a class action case.

I drafted ex parte motions, request for orders and all related documents, including a request for a move-away order. I interviewed clients and drafted declarations, and compiled the necessary evidentiary support. I attended several court appearances in regards to various family law issues, including ex parte hearings

For the first 8 weeks, I worked at the Realignment Unit, where clients are accused of violating the PRCS program. This special unit was created in 2011 in response to the passage of AB-109. Certain state prison parolees face supervision under the Post-Release Community Supervision program as opposed to traditional parole. I interviewed clients before they attended their arraignment. During the interview, I reviewed a petition submitted by the client's probation officer or the district attorney; discussed what happened with the client; and determined whether the petition contains any errors. I also determined if the client was eligible for and interested in mental health or substance abuse services. Most importantly, I discussed with the what they wished to do with their case.I then worked at the Juvenile Unit in Compton, CA. I assisted attorneys in interviewing clients and their families and determining the best course of action to fulfill their client's wishes. I created a timeline of a client's good behavior while serving his sentence in state prison, in preparation for his transfer hearing. I also conducted legal research on California Evidence Code, sections 1101 and 1108, and wrote an internal memorandum describing the possible ways prosecution may use prior uncharged acts in the client's current case. I drafted a motion to suppress to move for the suppression of evidence found during an illegal search.

I performed various legal research projects for Assistant Professor Richard Re. I collected data on Supreme Court cases where a justice stated in their dissent that they would reconsider past precedent and hint that they may wish to change past precedent. I also began research on the legislative history behind a rule concerning quorum in the Supreme Court.

I worked at the Airport Branch and at the Mental Health Department. I assisted attorneys in the courtroom by performing conflict checks, interviewing clients and reviewing police reports and other discovery documents. I also performed legal research for the attorneys and drafted motions based on that research. I drafted internal memorandum on whether a second-degree residential burglary could occur in a vessel and the difference between assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. I conducted research on the plain view doctrine and drafted a motion to suppress.

Overall, I assisted 24 clients and closed 14 cases. I was in charge of my own caseload, which averaged 30 cases a day. I wrote noncompliance complaints, completed mediation only forms, and attended IEP meetings with her clients. I also participated in two successful mediations that resulted in the school district granting her client's disputed requests.

I performed legal research on home-based care programs to determine if there was any legal basis for a discrimination claim. I provided callers living with HIV and/or AIDS with legal aid and counsel when appropriate. I assisted callers with various legal issues, including housing and public benefits. I also completed advanced health care directives for people living with HIV and/or AIDS.

I researched relevant statutes and regulations concerning the Low-Income Tax Credit Program and wrote a memo based on that research.

I analyzed discovery provided by opposing counsel to create exhibits that were filed with the court; drafted and mailed letters to the court and proofs of service to opposing council; cite checked legal documents; and created parallel cites for Lexis cites using Westlaw. I assisted the attorney in trial support prep, by creating exhibits and completing data analysis projects. I reviewed and categorized discovery documents. I also maintained a physical and electronic database of filings with the court and correspondence conducted with the court and opposing counsel. I constructed and maintained financial records using QuickBooks and Sage Timeslips.

I transcribed attorneys' dictation, implemented attorneys' revisions, and finalized legal documents and letters. Additionally, I performed general office duties and handled front desk operations.

I endorsed interest in literacy and reading by narrating children stories to first and second graders, instructed higher level diction by encouraging mentees to pronounce words beyond their skill set, and mediated interpersonal conflicts and resolved differences among the mentees.

I conducted surveys at San Francisco Chinatown community events concerning their opinion on same sex marriage and researched nationwide ballot measures concerning the rights of the LGBTQ folk for workshop use.
