MD of Australia’s AGL, appointed to devise a defense strategy during a hostile takeover, concluding one of Australia’s all-time largest mergers (A$14bn, awarded Asia Finance deal of the year 2006), forming AGL Energy and Alinta in 2006. Managed the acquisition of a number of energy companies to build AGL energy portfolio and oversaw an 89% increase in earnings in years.Extensive PE experience,worked for Electra Private Equity Partners and Doughty Hanson, ran its investment in wind turbine manufacturer LM Glasfiber in Denmark, increasing earnings by over 60% and increase in production capability by 40%.At Electra PE Partners to turnaround clean power group EPR Ltd UK, instrumental in transforming the business into one of the UK’s largest renewable energy companies, transforming a loss-making business and sold for over £240m within two years. Played a key role in the design of the deregulation of the British electricity sector with Power Gen in the 1990s, selected by the NZ Government to advance deregulation of the NZ market. Founding CEO of Contact Energy,originally purchased generating assets from Government for $168m and within two years successfully built New Zealand’s largest integrated electricity and gas utility and sold via the country’s largest IPO for $3.5bn.Have also been an executive vice president of British Gas Group in the UK, appointed to deliver a successful demerger and establish the new group’s go-forward strategy.Currently an advisor to private equity funds, Banks & Family Offices on business transformation, fund raising and strategic development.Specialties: Power and Gas & Oil.
