I have a professional career which has spanned some 42 years on the North West in both the private and public sectors. I have previously worked as business manager of the North West TAFE in Burnie, and for 10 years as the director of my family business retailing cars, distributing fuel and running a 300-sow piggery. Prior to these positions I was a management accountant at United Milk Tasmania in Smithton and Devonport.I now run my own Corporate Dairy business, and was previously general manager of Burnie City Council from 2000-11 and general manager of Circular Head Council for seven years prior to that. In these roles I focused strongly on economic development opportunities, which played a part in the increased development and prosperity of these two areas.The experience I gained from these various positions has given me an insight into the Tasmanian economy and particularly, how each sector can play its role in ensuring the state continues to create jobs and opportunities for future generations.I have a strong interest in the agricultural sector, with a focus on opportunities in dairying, shipping and farm management.I currently lease 8 Dairy Farms and produce 25 millions litres from those farms. I also lease 3 runoff blocks, with total leased area 1,950 hectares, milking around 3,800 dairy cows. I employ staff and sharefarmers to achieve the right outcome.I hold a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tasmania and I am a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants and a Fellow of Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA).I have, until 2019, served in positions as Deputy Chairman of the Tasmania Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), Circular Head Christian School Board (31 years) and Tasplan - Tasmania's largest Financial Institution.I retain positions as Director of Agritas Trade College, Smithton and City Mission, Launceston.
