Paul Ashby (PhD, University of Kent, 2015) is a researcher and lecturer working in International Relations (IR). He currently directs and advises on the Master’s of Defense and Strategic Studies (MDSS) program at The University of Texas at El Paso. His research expertise is in contemporary North American regional security. He is currently writing a book on that subject and wider contemporary North American regionalism in the context of recent political developments in the U.S. He also works on U.S. security assistance, foreign policy, and grand strategy more broadly.He has a decade of teaching experience in the United Kingdom and the United States in International Relations, Security Studies, and Defense and Strategic Studies. This includes the undergraduate and graduate level, and teaching active duty and retired military personnel, including at the US Army Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss.He also has strong administrative and advising experience as a program director, advisor, and administrative coordinator for UTEP, the University of Kent, and British International Studies Association.
