For over 25 years I worked for Unilever including 3 of their subsidiary companies. Starting in Logistics as a graduate apprentice and ending up in the IT Project Management team as a Senior Project Administrator. Redundancy was enforced in January 2020. Since then, I have tried to find my new career path. Many people find this an easy process, but it was hard to get a ‘first step on the ladder’. For a while now I have been looking into the area of Teaching/Primary school work. After a short period being a Pharmaceutical Delivery driver, which included delivery of ‘blue run’ deliveries, which was an eye opener but a valued educational experience.I then noticed a role being advertised as a Passenger Assistant for Special Needs children on the Wirral. I applied for this role and upon successful interview, completed all the compulsory training (WMBC & SEND) and started in November last year (2023). I have also covered SEND Adult runs as part of holiday/sickness cover.I love my current role, but it is contractual, hence it has strengthened my belief that I need to follow up my dream of working full time with Primary school children.Strong believer in team bonding and humour. In my experience there is an intricate bond within a team that if we can laugh together, we can work together and achieve anything. We work as a team and achieve and deliver as one. My relevant key skills are :-o Proven excellent Customer Service Skills – including positive feedback from parents.o Ability to remain calm in a challenging situation – example working with autistic children and adults.o Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.o Excellent time keeping & dedicated to a team environment, but able to work individually as and when required.o Awareness of, and a positive attitude, towards disability and equality issues – trained in wheelchair access and security.o 8 months experience within a Passenger Assistant role- for both SEND Children & Adults.Recent and Selective Qualifications:-o SEND Course: Spectrum - Achieved: Oct 2023o Communication Difficulties and Behaviour Management – WMBC – Achieved: Jan 2024o Safeguarding Children - WMBC – Achieved: Jan 2024o Manual Handling – WMBC – Achieved: Jan 2024o Enhanced DBS Clearance – Certification achieved Sept 2024o Trained in wheelchair ramp operation and wheelchair strap security.
