Responsible for global OBD planning and direction as well as generating OBD system technical information for certification and service.• Manage OBD compliance plans for the US, China, Europe, Mexico, India and Brazil. Interpret OBD regulations for each country and provide technical requirements for developing compliant monitoring strategies. • Review diagnostic strategy and assign and maintain Diagnostic Trouble Codes for all internal and supplier developed powertrain systems including gasoline, diesel, alternative fuels, hybrid, transmission and battery.• Produce OBD certification documentation, lead discussions with regulatory agencies like CARB, EPA, China to obtain OBD approvals, participate in regulatory rulemaking process.• Major contributor in the SAE Electrical/Electronic Diagnostic Committees developing OBD communication standards. Founding member of the SAE J1979, J2012, J2190, and J1699-3 committees, chairman of J1979 since 2009 and the document author for J1699-3.o Received the SAE Technical Standards Board Outstanding Contribution Award in 2006 and the 2017 James M. Crawford Technical Standards Board Outstanding Achievement Award for outstanding service in the technical committee activities of the SAE and has been an organizer for the SAE International OBD Symposium since 1999.• Responsible for Ford/SEMA Technology Initiative which allows aftermarket producers of performance parts and alternative fuel vehicles (CNG, LPG) to obtain powertrain control calibrations that meet legal emission and OBD requirements.
