Museum Project assistant. Worked with Adlib computer systems and packing objects for royal museum decant.

Collections database: Have received ADLIB training and have used the collections management database daily to update location details of objects and help correct any inaccuracies to make sure the database has the most up to date information to hand. Packing and handling collections: I have handled and packed a range of objects as part of the Royal museum project. This has ranged from Walruses one day to Ming dynasty vases on other days. Communication Skills: I have had to work with a range of people; from contractors to curators. I had to direct contractors to move certain packed artefacts and then had to act as a courier to ensure they were safely delivered to the collections care centre. Often I worked with specialised collections. This meant I was required to work with curators who knew what special handling was needed for multifarious collections. Organisational skills: Within this post I have had to organise workloads so that the project can be delivered on time. An example of this was that the Royal museum decant had to be completed by September that was completed on time. Also I had to adapt to management decisions to relocate certain parts of the collection by putting in extra hours and refocusing manpower on the relevant changes meant this did not affect the completion time of the project as a whole. Originally many files were in a lacklustre order. I arranged the filing system so it was in alphabetical order. I helped to catalogue a selection of the collections using cataloging cards and given artifact details such as date of object, type of object, date of accession and accession number. I have had to look up in detail the history of the composer Gustav Holst using biographical data so that I could compose 5-10 minute talks to customers about Gustav Holst's life. I work on the tills to great customers, sell tickets and sell souvenirs.

Entrepreneurship, English and Maths: I taught entrepreneurship, English and maths to 16-24 year old students who had dropped out of main schooling due to lack of finances or bad results. This required planning lessons, essays (Without set text books) and planning exams. This proved an excellent challenge and I produced lessons that were off the cuff and showed great initiative. I tried to relate to pupils by making lessons interactive and involve them to think for themselves. The ability of the classes varied enormously from those who you could tell had severe learning difficulties to extremely bright pupils. The class sizes varied from about 15 pupils to over 60 pupils. When I taught 60 or pupils I had to make sure that lessons were well planned and involved as little distraction as possible, it was also important not to let individuals disrupt the class as whole. The smaller groups could be given a more interactive section, as they were slightly easier to control. In addition to this I helped create a link between the centre and a school in Cheltenham. This link was established through determination and communication between myself the school and the centre.
