Responsible for developing current and future capability across people, processes and tools.- Currently leading a team through a transformation project to introduce Model Based Systems Engineering and Product Lines to control system design. Creating the capability (processes, tools, ways of working) and set of reusable design assets. The result significantly reduces the lead time and development cost of a new control system. It improves safety and “right first time” design, and is compliant with ARP4754A/ED-79A.- Line managed 10 Technical Managers and Senior Specialists, supporting individual experts in becoming a high-performing team aligned with business priorities. Introduced Kanban principles to manage workflow. - Delivered an urgent safety related software modification from launch to service in two weeks rather than the accepted lead-time of several months.- Used lean workshops to develop process improvements. This included an improved design technical approval process rolled out to all civil engine projects and more than 30 design approvers. It has reduced quality escapes and improved customer satisfaction.- Drove strategic proactive safety improvements across the civil aerospace fleet.- Championed the population of a knowledge portal to capture valuable yet tacit domain knowledge and improve future products through better applying past lessons learnt.- Led and coached others on complex Safety and Quality Investigations, including use of the 8D problem solving approach.- Established cross-sector technical reviews of key issues to improve safety and quality.- Developed Safety and Quality metrics to measure and improve performance through better visibility.- Coordinated several technical audits of control system design with the internal RR Airworthiness department, audit team, EASA, Airbus and Bombardier Aviation.
