ICE started in 2000 and had rapidly grown a network of now 23 regulated exchanges and commodity marketplaces. ICE is the exchange for more than half of global oil contracts. I was a Smalltalk developer (GemStone/S and VisualWorks) that enhanced core software through rapidly evolving market needs. I performed most of the performance tuning work and achieved at least 95% time reductions in every refactoring. I developed the tools used for code management and deployment. I developed and taught language extensions that achieved a broad 80% performance improvement in all server actions while equally expanding limits. I'm proud to have been an instrumental part of ICE development through the formative years.

I'd established Agile Development and Continuous Integration before such processes became industry ideals. I refined code to a common core that was unit tested with VisualAge Smalltalk and VisualWorks on five platforms (AIX, HPUX, Linux, Solaris, and Windows). I was able to reduce the release cycle to from months to hours while ensuring release integrity.

Participated in development of a credit life insurance application for CUNA implemented with VisualAge, DB/2, ENVY, and HTML.

We used VAST as it evolved from ENVY/400 to IBMST to VisualAge. We created a rich meta-model based application to add an object interface to legacy AS/400 application. I worked on both framework and application development. We effectively grew our own object database to store the meta definitions. Profiling and tuning was a major emphasis as most logic was from loaded objects rather than compiled code. Company was formerly known as Software 2000.
