Following a company restructure within Engineering, my current role of 'Engineering Shift Team Manager' became 'Engineering & Baggage Duty Manager' with further responsibility for the baggage system duty teams.

Following a recent Engineering restructure, a new Engineering Shift Team Manager role was created combining previous duties as Airport Duty Engineer and Engineering Team Manager. Responsible for day/night management of engineering shift team and site wide Airport infrastructure out of hours.

H24, 365 day responsibility for the management, maintenance & repair of the Airport infrastructure assets to include, AGL 'Airfield Ground Lighting', airport baggage systems, fire protection systems, heating & ventilation equipment, gas, water and electricity utility management, foul and surface water drainage networks, navigational aids, civil Engineering management, implementation and delivery of airport asset management strategies, shift management of a strong team to include Engineering Technicians & Operatives, ensuring that budgets are adhered to through efficient working practices, implementation and delivery of all company & international policies and legislation, deliver planned maintenance regimes in line with current service level agreements, management of reactive breakdown work, implementation and delivery of Airport emergency orders, implementation & management of winter operations plans, monitor team and individual performance through proficiency and appraisal reviews.

Responsible for the installation, maintenance and testing of electrical systems including constant current regulators, safety isolating transformers, high frequency invertors, fibre optic communication equipment, diesel generators and associated control equipment, Siemens PLC’s, low voltage and high voltage electrical systems, ac and dc electrical equipment, electrical switchgear, intruder detection systems meteorological equipment, surface water and foul water pumps and control equipment, roller shutter doors and door access systems, building management systems and domestic electrical equipment.

Joined Manchester Airport and started working towards gaining my Modern Apprenticeship, which I completed in June 1999 having achieved a HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, NVQ level 3 in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.Electrical Apprentice of the year at SETA training school (June 1996)
