The prime function of a Senior Material Controller (SMC) is the identification, sourcing and procurement of all goods and services required by Marshall Aerospace meeting the necessary time constraints to support the principal business areas. This includes purchasing of parts, raw materials, component repair and subcontract processes. A SMC interacts with internal and external customers to fully understand requirements and where necessary identify and propose acceptable, alternative business solutions. A SMC identifies and has the ability to extract relevant business information to quantify and understand performance, instigate remedial action where necessary and optimise stock holdings. These roles are carried out with a full understanding of the position within the Purchasing Department and the MA Business framework including the interaction of the principal departments. A SMC acts as a mentor to Material Controllers and Trainee Material Controllers.Responsibility also includes setting and maintaining standards associated with the position.
