Chief Technician, Advanced engineering Solutions Ltd. Responsible for planning and implementing gas related site activities including PSSR inspections on filters / pig traps / water bath heaters to industry guidelines. Undertake MPI & ultrasonic inspections as part of written scheme of examination. Manage site teams during maintenance activity. Produce inspection reports for review within required timescales for clients. I previously have worked as a Technician for AESL in the Company’s Water and Gas departments, for which I was initially required to pass an internal training programme. During this time I have gained experience in the condition assessment and inspection of ferrous, concrete and asbestos cement pipelines, building test rigs to find out new technology tolerances, and entrusted in roles of significant responsibility. The job had required me to work in different locations around the UK, although I have also travelled to the USA and Canada to help promote the Company’s patented magnetic flux leakage inspection tools, and to conduct pipeline inspections as trials for Battelle Research Institute. I have also been responsible for providing training in the use of the tools to personnel from third party organisations. In addition to this I have worked on UK natural gas facilities and industrial plants, becoming an AP4 at Atwick gas storage site in Hornsea North Yorkshire, allowing me to accept and surrender work permits, I assess corrosion and supplying the client with wall thickness readings, grit blasting corroded areas and carrying out a four coat paint system for protection. I also carry out pipe line protection using the Denso method of wrapping, extending the life span for up to thirty years.
