Provide automation support for High Pressure Copolymer Polyethylene plants using Siemens PCS7.

I provide technical support to C Unit in the production of high pressure copolymers.

-Assistant Manager over a hardwood and pine Fiberline (Digester/Screeen Room/Washing/Bleach Plant) and ClO2 plant-Backfilled the Maintenance Coordinator role for 8+ months. This included planning turnarounds, verifying LOTOs, managing the department's budget. -Primary contact for department projects. Approved any DCS changes and worked with process control on developing new strategies -Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified

This position moved me outside of the mill's technical group, and into the Fiberline department to focus on process improvements. Projects included• Continuing the DCS conversion of the Fiberline Area (See previous position for details)• Fiberline Instrumentation Upgrade. This was a capital project with 10+ new instruments. I lead calibration and installation efforts, and working with Process Control to create new controls for bleaching/washing.• Lead a team to optimize white liquor usage (Lean Six Sigma Project).• Worked with a team to lower brightness targets for chemical savings. • Improved startup/shutdown procedures.

My primary responsibilities during this time was working on the DCS upgrade of the pine Fiberline from Honeywell to DeltaV. The project was over 3500 IO points. This covered a Pine unit (digester/washing/screen room/bleach plant) a Hardwood unit (digester/washing/screen room/bleach plant) and a ClO2 plant. My responsibilities included:- Being the primary operations contact for Project Engineering team and Contractors.- Verifying initial logic with Process Control, Operators, and manufacturer manuals.- Working with the software team to develop graphics and make logic changes.- Removing old logic by checking equipment in field and working with the E/I department.- Training operators on how to use the new DCS. - Spending 4+ weeks at software FAT signing off on control logic.

I supported two Fiberlines (one pine, and one hardwood), and a ClO2 plant. In this role I worked to:- Remake the department operating guides.- Improve turpentine yield- Calibrate the fiber Kappa Analyzer, and improve operator Kappa testing- Implement proper valve tagging methods to improve LOTO.- Improve ProcessBook displays for operators- Implement Lean Six Sigma methodology for problem solving. During this time, I also received:- Two weeks of Six Sigma Green Belt training- 1 week of training in Maintenance workflow process (for managing SAP backlog and coordinating with maintenance group)

During my co-op at MWV, I learned about the kraft paper mill process and process controls. The main projects and skills I learned are listed below.Lead team to optimize NaCO3 quality and reduce lime costs- Model and implement level control in digester for tuning parameters, reduced variation by 42%- Validate pulp analyzer calibration for use in continuous digester optimization- Re-engineer refractometers installation to resolve cracked prism issues- Create calibration procedures and troubleshooting manuals for pulp analyzer- Design PI ProcessBook pages with VBA coding- Technical writing (Instruction manuals, new control documentation, emails, etc.)- Safety Audits and safety observations.- Control theory and tuning. Step tests, cascade control, tuning calculations, etc.

- Supervise shifts of 3 to 8 student consultants- Assign work tasks- Provide tier 2 support and support advanced questions from student consultants- Manage opening and closing duties

- Assist Texas A&M faculty and students with computer problems- Take phone calls to assist in networking, accounts, and troubleshooting- Respond to emails and chat support- Open problem tickets for advanced troubleshooting- Provide over the counter support for costumers with - Routinely fixed networking, VPN, bloatware, bootcamp, and virus problems- Promoted to Student Consultant Leader

While at Blue Sugars, I had a variety of duties. Some of which included:- Collect and analyze process samples to support the operations of a biomass-to-ethanol demonstration plant- Conduct wet chemistry tests, HPLC analysis, & use Wonderware data historian- Run experiments and create reports using Excel- Develop method for calculating total dissolved solid percentage in samples- Spearhead advanced spreadsheet development with VBA programming- Train peers

I worked part time at a 500 acre pecan farm.
