LED displays have been part of my life since 2002 first working on truck mounted LED screens then to Live events throughout Europe. Fixed installations became a major part of my skills working on large projects, advancing my knowledge of LED control systems and the structural components.In 2010 I created Eyecom whose focus was to grow the LED industry in South Africa, originally building truck mounted screens for live events and installations of digital billboards. After a few years we developed our own screen structure solution for indoor applications which to this day is copied by many. Eyecom produce hundreds of indoor screens every year and are installed by our in house team.During 2020 Eyecom and two business partners took a leap of faith and created Filmscape. The first permanent VR studio in South Africa with full XR capability. The studio is designed and built to Netflix specifications and has since been utilized by Netflix and Apple TV. This year we have increased the studio space to include a total of 310sqm of XR P2.6 LED wall and 700sqm of green screen all wrapped up in our new facility.We offer two standard geometry’s 280 degree wrap wall and a 18m wide x 5.5m high flat with fly wall. Full camera tracking with Mo-sys rig, SSD 8k playback, Unreal engine 5. Facility offers editing rooms, make up rooms, boardrooms, canteen, green room, A/C, 3 phase power,large vehicle access in to the studio space and parking for numerous trucks.
