Royalty And Specialist Protection

Undertaking exceptional threat and risk assessment and management, I plan, lead and implement close protection operations, managing security around high profile individuals and internationally protected persons. I plan close protection operations for visiting foreign politicians and dignitaries; this includes the development, review and implementation of security in elevated threat arenas, working liaison with police partners and intelligence agencies. Specialist Firearms Command

Leading a team of 30 specialist officers, I commanded and advised on the planning and response to firearms operations including reaction to critical threat spontaneous incidents throughout London. I delivered clear, calm and measured reactions in pressured environments, ensured compliance with exacting legal requirements and delivered accurate risk assessments. Handling complex threat and risk, I provided tactical advice and, with diplomacy, managed the expectations of the most senior officers by offering a realistic view of feasible outcomes.

Operational Policing

Response - I led a team of 24/7 officers in a busy and challenging area of London. I ensured calls for police attention were responded to promptly and that the appropriate staff were available in areas, and at times, of greatest demand. I managed diverse, high priority, issues simultaneously leading successfully in challenging environments. Responding to major incidents, I ensured evidence was secured and that witnesses, suspects and forensic opportunities were identified. I exercised a confident leadership approach to this role, managing operational obligations alongside the professional development, discipline and welfare needs of my team. Custody Officer - I was responsible for the reception, detention and overall care of individuals brought into a large custody suite. I demonstrated the ability to think calmly in critical environments and remain cognisant of exacting legal and moral demands. I was responsible for often the most vulnerable in society, embracing one of the most stressful and high responsibility roles within policing. I worked effectively with lay visitors, promoting understanding of police actions and resolving concerns at the earliest opportunity.

Specialist Firearms Command - Armed Response Vehicle

I was tasked with high visibility armed policing response to both planned and spontaneous events across London. Working within a dynamic team, I provided 24/7 armed protection, ensuring full compliance with all legal requirements of this tightly legislated service. This role required the most observant and considered attention whilst providing a visible and effective deterrent and response when required. I demonstrated the ability to successfully assess fast moving situations, contributing proactively to a range of high threat and risk events from armed sieges to shooting incidents and counter terrorism operations. During this time, I also worked within a dedicated operation, tasked to counter a significant rise in cash in transit robberies across London. This operation secured a 60% reduction in these offences and the conviction of serious organised crime group members. I also proactively contributed to the formulation of a National Working Strategy, developing tactics, resourcing and budget management of armed response vehicles.

Operational Policing

I undertook a variety of operational roles, including providing immediate response to critical incidents and the management of a wide range of operational activities. I brought a thoughtful and considered approach to my work, processing information accurately and exercising effective conflict management skills. I consistently demonstrated the ability to connect meaningfully with people even in the most challenging of circumstances. I was actively engaged in reducing offending through intelligence led detection, monitoring trends, developing analysis and responding to fast time information. I managed varied investigations, interviewing and building case files for presentation to the Crown Prosecution Service.
