Short term contract to improve the in-life management of a key supplier contract through process review and implementation alongside knowledge and skill transfer to the client team. Areas addressed included relationship management, governance, performance management, delivery, change control and exit planning.

Short-term contract managing the commercial team and customer interface for one of BT's major contracts

Responsible for contract changes, commercial governance and in-life commercial activities on BT's major contracts in the Government sector. I led a team who dealt with 100 contract changes per annum, big and small. We worked closely with our customer’s commercial leads to deliver growth, resolve disputes and provide commercial governance.

My role was to drive supplier savings, to negotiate flow-down of terms and conditions, and to manage supplier risk. I led a team spanning BT’s contracts in the Government sector.

I managed the supplier base on one of BT's biggest contracts. This consisted of 150 suppliers and annual spend in excess of £50m. The key deliverables were to flow-down terms and conditions from the head customer contract to the key suppliers, to deliver supplier savings and to mitigate supplier risk.

I led bid management teams in CRM, IT and Applications Hosting. During this period, I directed the build of the biggest financial bid model that BT had produced to that point.

I led a team of bid and commercial managers for BT’s CRM business unit. During this period, the business unit made its first annual profit. I also earned delegated authority from BT Finance to approve budgetary bids to the value of £20m – unheard of previously in BT.

First experience as a line manager - of bid and business managers in the CRM and outsourced call centre market.

I joined BT as a senior Bid Manager to lead their major bids in the outsourced call centre space.

I learnt my trade as a bid manager leading IT and Telecoms bids across Europe. The scope was wide – from IT outsourcing and systems integration to router networks and call centres.

I provided the internal datacentre quotes for AT&T's UK bids and contract changes.

I managed the cost base for the non-IBM element of AT&T Istel's datacentre in Redditch.

I spent two years travelling around Europe, Israel and Egypt. As I set off with £200, this was funded by finding whatever work I could, including cleaning up after house-fires in Holland, washing dishes in France and farming in Israel.
