It also provides technical Millennium advice to the trust teams that support the Cerner Millennium PAS (hosted by Cerner).Duties & Responsibilities All the same duties as my EPR Support Engineer Role (detailed further down) and the following:• Managing and providing technical advice & guidance to the development team.• Cerner Millennium system architect, advising senior management on how the system should be developed in the future, and controlling how the system is developed, esp with first of type developments. • Defining and providing the development and signoff process for the team, and making sure it complies to ITIL standards.• Making sure the team follows the defined development and sign off process. • Working with clinical areas to assist them in selecting and purchasing specialist clinical software.• Investigating suspected cases of inappropriate access to patient records within Millennium, and providing appropriate reports.• Providing out of hours support.Key Projects & Achievements• Successfully developed and implemented the MRN migration for the Royal Free’s internal Cerner Millennium system as part of the Trust’s PAS and PMI Merge project.• Managed the development team through both Millennium upgrades from 2003.02 to 2007.17 and then to 2010.01.• Oversaw the design of the core Millennium changes, the conversion of all custom reports, developed the Keystone interface (electronic results to GPs), and provided technical assistance for the data migration stream for the Classic Pathnet to Millennium Pathnet conversion project.• Developed a routine to extract Electronic Inpatient Summaries from Millennium to allow them to be distributed electronically, enabling the trust to meet the CQUIN requiring inpatient discharge summaries to be distributed to GPs within 24 hours of discharge. -
Epr Support EngineerSiemens Feb 2004 - Apr 2007Barnet HospitalSiemens were contracted to provide the IT services to Barnet as part of a PFI agreement. The EPR Support team provided support and enhancements for the Cerner Millennium system installed by Cerner as part of the PFI. In 2006 the Trust made the decision to buy Siemens out and take the IT services back ‘in house’ into the NHS. Duties & Responsibilities • Enhancing and configuring Cerner Millennium Core, Powerchart, Surginet, Scheduling, Orders, Documentation, Interfacing, Radnet, and Pathnet.• Creating new interfaces in both Millennium and the trusts integration engine.• Managing and administering the Trust Integration Engine.• Writing CCL queries for operational and management reports, and for the investigation of data quality issues.• Liaising with non technical staff to gather and understand their requirements, then formulating technical solutions to meet those requirements.• Writing functional and technical specifications to document solutions.• Working with colleagues and customers to investigate and resolve application and integration related issues.• Producing technical help / know how documents for other members of the team, and customer documentation on how to use various parts of supported systems.• Providing customer demonstrations for new functionality• Creating test plans and test logs, and testing new developments. • Monitoring the support queue and providing customer support• Working with clinical areas to assist them in selecting and purchasing specialist clinical software.Key Projects & Achievements• Developed ADT, ORM and ORU interfaces to link Chase Farm Hospital’s legacy McKesson PAS to the trusts internal Millennium system, link Indigo4’s TQUEST electronic GP orders and results system to the Trust’s internal Millennium system, and the link between the Trust’s Millennium Radnet and PACS.• Created most of the interfaces in the trusts new (at that point) JCAPS integration engine in readiness for the R0 PAS migration. -

This has helped to reduce the team’s overall support queue by one quarter despite the fact that the team has been reduced in size.• Put in charge of a year 2000 project which had had little progress and was behind schedule by six months. By developing and managing innovative and efficient methods of locating and solving the Y2K issues I successfully completed the project within four months.
