I am currently employed by a consulting engineering company, Kova Engineering (Saskatchewan) Ltd. Within my newly appointed engineering supervisor role I have provided services for many different projects including the design and analysis of overhead travelling cranes, mobile cranes, lifting accessories, fall arrest, industrial structures, and industrial mining equipment. During my time at Kova I have also attended a number of short professional development courses including courses for industrial building design and structural steel connections. Within the company I have also done a vast amount of field work including structural inspections of existing facilities and equipment as well as new fabrications utilizing magnetic particle and visual inspection techniques.

Due to a staff shortage in Anadarko Canada’s Completions Department, my summer duties were primarily to act as a full-time well completions engineer. Within this role, I was responsible for planning, preparing, and acting as technical support for gas well completion operations. Additionally, I carried out two technical reviews; one for surfactants used in completion fluids, and another for gas production from a specific geological formation.

My duties in Shell Canada’s drilling department included research into extended reach drilling (ERD), as well as a number of mechanical drilling simulations using a finite element analysis program called WellPlan. The simulations included estimating drillstring torque, drag, and side forces, as well as casing drag.
