Switchfly is a travel-commerce and loyalty SaaS platform that enables leading brands to rapidly deploy state-of-the-art online travel services. Key clients included Amex, JetBlue, Groupon, American Airlines, and Marriott. I grew the Engineering team from 12 to 130 across multiple locations and timezones. We launched numerous features including a responsive consumer front-end, next generation agent portal, and merchandise point redemption product. My team increased the major release frequency from 3 times per year with downtime to 5 times per year without downtime while improving testing efficiency 31% as the team grew 130%. Structural is a technology driven, financial services start-up providing tailored portfolio management services to high net worth individuals and institutional investors using proprietary software systems. I was hired as a Director, responsible for QA and DevOps. I defined the strategy, developed tools, and hired the team. Following a pivot in product focus from equities to cash, I became the VP of Engineering responsible for software development and testing. I changed our SDLC to a Scrum Agile methodology, improving our ability to deliver high quality applications on time and per spec. We created a greenfield, cash management application using all open source software. The application traded $15MM in brokered deposits per day and managed more than $1B in cash. Hotwire.com, a division of Expedia, Inc., offers cost conscious consumers unbeatable low prices on airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, vacation packages, and cruises. I directed two teams owning QA and DevOps. My 8 person testing team was responsible for feature testing, automated testing, and performance testing, while my 2 person release engineering team, a.k.a. DevOps, was responsible for SCM to CI to production deployment. I developed a robust set of scripts to deploy applications changes to all test and production environments. Our automated test team hit 2008 KPI goal of 70% code coverage. I improved the performance testing process to mirror production user behavior and ensure the application would perform under load. I ensured our testing and release process were Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliant.
