I am currently a pricing actuary and underwriter in OdysseyRe’s Accident and Health division. My day-to-day includes pricing reinsurance treaties at a favorable combined ratio for the book of business, negotiating treaty details with the broker and paying attention to the experience of active and past treaties. I have extensive experience with Milliman’s ExPrT pricing model, the AMS Profiler suite, and am proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Visual Basic. I am also currently pursuing a Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), with four exams passed in the educational track. I am currently sitting for Exam PA in October and I anticipate passing with flying colors.My previous position was with a property/casualty excess and surplus lines carrier called Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company. I began as an Associate Underwriter, mainly managing the preparation of files for underwriting review and managing file reviews for policies currently on our book. In two years in the position, I was able to work my way up to Underwriter I, working within my authority limits to manage a NY/NJ/PA book of business consisting of mainly habitational/lessors risk property and general liability policies. In this time, I also completed my Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation to further strengthen my underwriting background and knowledge base.I have relevant experience in a data entry role for the CT Department of Transportation Safety Research Center, where my contributions aided research that directly impacted driving safety legislation. During my undergraduate time at the University of Connecticut, I was able to balance full-time work responsibilities to the DOTSRC along with my academic commitments. I also accepted a role as a Baseball Analytics Intern for the UConn Baseball program, with the ultimate goal of optimizing the performance of the program through in-depth analysis of statistics, sabermetrics and other relevant data. This internship program lasted two semesters, and one of my biggest contributions during this time was a pitching tool that allowed coaches to more effectively log locations, velocities and rotational speeds.
