Paul Christopherson is a native Minnesotan. He was ordained priest for the Bishop of Minnesota in 1972 by the Bishop of New York, where he served as assistant to the Rector of St. Thomas Church.Since then Paul has had a dual career in business and the church. In the church he has served as supply priest in New Jersey, particularly at Christ Church in Short Hills, and St. John on the Mountain in Bernardsville. He has been a board member of the Episcopal Preaching Foundation, and of General Theological Seminary, where he was on the executive committee and chaired the investment committee.In business Paul had a long career in Wall Street, as an equity research analyst, first at Kidder, Peabody, and then Bear Stearns. In 1992, he started New Vernon Associates, an institutional equity research firm he sold in 2008. In 2010 he published his book, “Pants on Fire: Cutting Through the Biggest Lies of 21st Century American Plutocracy”.Paul and his wife Ellen (“Dede”) were married at St James in New York in 2012, and moved to Litchfield in January 2016. By a previous marriage, Paul has a daughter, Katharine Calderwood, and three grandchildren. He has a BA from Williams; MDiv from Episcopal Divinity School; and MBA from Columbia.In 2016, Paul was licensed in the Diocese of Connecticut. During 2017-18, he was priest on about sixty Sundays at nine parishes, including Trinity Church, Milton; St Paul’s, Woodbury; St. John’s, Washington; St John’s, Salisbury; and St Michael’s, Litchfield. He has also done pastoral work at several of these.Paul has been Priest in Charge at St. John's Episcopal Church in Salisbury, CT since July 2020.
