Paul Cowles has 20 years of international and domestic experience in helping people better manage their natural resources. Key to his success is the ability to assess and evaluate program performance from social, environmental, economic and governance perspectives. With degrees in both Biology and Conservation Social Sciences, two decades of experience managing, assessing and building capacity for successful implementation of USAID environment programs in Africa and Asia, and experience teaching program management and evaluation/statistical methods at Universities in the USA, Paul has the tools and experience required to meaningfully assess NRM, climate change and biodiversity conservation programmatic performance. Most recently Paul has been Chief of Party of the USAID funded Community Forest Program in Zambia. The 5 year, 14 million dollar Sustainable Landscapes project focused on establishing a 30 year REDD+ project in the Luangwa Valley. The project is in its final months and once verified will ensure the long term conservation of over 1 million hectares of forest in one of the last great African wildlife landscapes. Paul continues to advise the project on a part time basis and is looking for short term opportunities to put his broad experience to work.
