Having grown up in a family of engineers, the subject gave me a sense of how things work, which I was able to develop early on in life. Yet, I soon realised that it was not the career for me. I wanted a different challenge. My ultimate calling? Architecture and interior design.By 2019, I felt that I had amassed enough experience to co-found and launch my own innovative interior design company, with my friend and fellow interior designer, Malcolm Abela Sciberras. Enter Rebirth – our joint venture, with studios in Malta and London – where our overriding aim is to give purpose to properties.Since its inception, Rebirth has gone from strength to strength and our projects include full refurbishments of three prime properties in Malta: a mansion-apartment in Balluta, a luxury suite at Hilton’s Portomaso, and a maisonette in the capital of Valletta.Clients love a designer with a good eye and a knack for creating interiors that feel genuinely original, and this is what I feel we deliver. For me, setting up a property with art and decorative items to personalise the space is one of the greatest joys interior design can bring.That, and the look on a client’s face when they see their transformed property for the very first time. It never gets old – it’s a pure adrenaline rush! In fact, central to everything we do is our close working relationship with our clients, many of whom have become friends.Of course, running our own business isn’t without its challenges – namely deciding whether to expand further in these daunting times. My overall goal is to bring good design to as many people as possible – while helping them realise that excellent interior design can impact their mental health and wellbeing by reducing stress, depression, and anxiety as well as improving productivity. I am incredibly proud of everything that our company has achieved to-date. What makes Rebirth different from other interior design businesses?
