We provide engineering services to a fleet of 12 coal fired, and 22 natural gas fired electrical power generating units located at 12 sites in Texas.• Implemented and maintained the company’s Electrical Arc Flash Safety Program• Organized and directed a Regulations and Standards Training Program for new electrical engineers

In this role I was responsible for the management of major electrical, as well as other disciplines, projects within the various Luminant generating facilities. Additionally, I provided technical expertise and guidance to the other company electrical engineers and project managers.• Directed the close of an existing scrubber sludge dewatering pond and the design & construction of a new pond• Coordinated the engineering effort to conform 2 new 840MW lignite fired generating units to match existing fleet standards

In this role I was responsible for the electrical design philosophy for the Luminant generating facilities. I provided technical expertise to other company electrical engineers and provided day-to-day technical support to personnel at the generating facilities.• Updated a complex 1970’s vintage emergency power diesel-generator control system to a fully automated PLC system integrated with the plant’s main Foxboro control system• Developed a new transfer scheme for the automatic transfer of the plant electrical auxiliary power system from the unit auxiliary transformers to the startup/standby transformers upon loss of normal power

In this role I was the lead electrical engineer on the East Team responsible for the electrical aspects of all capital improvement projects for 6 lignite and 11 gas/oil fired generating units. I also provided day-to-day technical support to personnel at those generating facilities.• Restored a 645MW lignite fired generating unit to service after a significant cable tray fire• Restored a 30 year old 800MW generator step-up transformer to place in service to replace a failed transformer on a 750MW lignite fired generating unit

In this role I was the lead electrical and instrumentation & controls engineer on the company’s Fossil Generation NOx Reduction Program. I directed the work of various architect/engineers and vendors for furnace burner and air modifications on the company’s lignite fired boilers. At this time I was also the lead engineer for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) projects on two of the company’s gas/oil fired boilers.• Purchased and supervised installation of new furnace burner and air management control systems for 7 lignite fired boilers• Redesigned the medium voltage electrical auxiliary distribution system of a gas/oil fired generating unit to accommodate the addition of a new 5000HP induction motor

In this role I was responsible for the development of relaying philosophies and protective relay setting calculations for the company’s three surface mining operations and twenty-four electrical generating sites composed of seventy-two generating units. I also performed electrical system studies and electrical equipment sizing calculations. The position transitioned into transmission system protective relaying where I provided relay setting calculations and field technical support for 25kV substations, 69kV, 138kV, and 345kV transmission lines and associated substations and switching stations for approximately one quarter of the company’s transmission system, including the Fort Worth Metroplex area.• Performed electrical relay coordination study complete with revised relay settings for a large surface mine site• Revised protective relaying philosophy for 4 old gas/oil fired generating units being restored to operation
