Founded the International Decommissioning Network (IDN). Engaged in the development of Peer Review Services for Member States seeking to share and learn from each others' practices in the field of Nuclear Waste and Decommissioning. Chaired an IAEA International Peer Review of High Activity Waste Storage practices in a developed Member State.As the Scientific Secretary for the International Decommissioning Network I worked to promote the sharing of practical information related to decommissioning. In particular, I work with organizations with advanced decommissioning programmes to offer “hands on” training and demonstration opportunities to IDN Participants with a need to develop these skills. This includes developing the detailed content of workshops and training courses, and arranging event attendance, scientific (technical) visits to well-run facilities undergoing decommissioning and fellowships “expert missions” to assist participants. Where appropriate I share my personal experience as a manager of design with those developing decommissioning plans, selecting appropriate technology, and planning their projects – either directly or as a lecturer at a workshop or training course.
