Volunteer
CurrentI am privileged to be volunteering at an important community service, the Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians (LAMP). LAMP is a program funded through the Pennsylvania Office of Commonwealth Libraries and administered throughout the state of Pennsylvania by Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and the Free Library of Philadelphia. The goal of LAMP is to provide library services that are more discoverable, accessible, and inclusive to Pennsylvania’s growing print-disabled population. Patrons of LAMP are those who cannot access standard print due to blindness, visual, cognitive, or reading disabilities, and to those who are unable to hold a book or turn its pages. LAMP in turn circulates over 1.5 million titles in accessible formats like digital, digital download, Braille, print/Braille, large-print and Audio-described DVDs to Pennsylvanians.
