Personal Claims ConsultantHbos Aug 2002 - Feb 2008Home BasedJoined Halifax General Insurance in a project role setting up their claims field force business. Responsibilities included producing the technical claims handling briefings, IT process and various reference papers for the field based claims consultants. The field force went live in April 2002 and I moved across into the business as a home based Personal Claims Consultant(PCC). Responsible for both contents and buildings claims. No handling limit in respect of contents claims and also responsible for day to day running of buildings claims including large losses (£25k plus) in hand with the project managed perils/subsidence surveyors. Fully delegated to deal with claims from notification to settlement, producing building scopes and the management of the preferred contractors appointed. Secondments were undertaken within the subsidence team to support my Building Surveying studies, this involved shadowing with the surveyors and learning about diagnosis and methods of repairs on subsidence losses and the management of such cases. In July 2007 I became part of Halifax’s specialist PCC flood team managing a case load of 85 flood damaged domestic properties. This entailed managing two of their recommended contractors from initial scheduling and estimating of the works with both the contractor and customer, pre contract visits, progress site visits and job sign off. The value of the reinstatement works was up to circa £50k. CDM and Building Regulation adherence was also part of the specialist flood role. -
