Having decided it was time for me to get my hands on some much larger projects, I made the move to this design-led practice. My role within the practice included responsibility for a wide range of educational, research, industrial and retail projects for clients including the University of Manchester, Lancaster University, BAE Systems and Booths Supermarkets, mostly during the design stages. I was a key player in developing the brand and image of the practice and ensuring that new technologies were embraced in an intelligent and timely manner. I was also heavily involved in the complex bidding processes, helping to win many projects against competition from some of the UK's leading architects. Particular highlights were a curvaceous new timber-framed restaurant for BAE Systems at Samlesbury and the iconic new Manchester Cancer Research Centre. Show less

Converting a shop unit with a dark, dank basement into our modern, light and airy office (now home to a radio station and cafe), I developed a small, design-focused architectural practice with many highly satisfied clients. Our refurbishment of the Quaker Meeting House in Ilkley was a particular highlight, along with many domestic clients with whom I built long-lasting relationships.

In partnership with Mark Wogden I was responsible for a wide range of domestic and commercial projects from inception to completion.
