Since high school I have been involved in helping my community develop and I have served on various boards and committees. Starting from my scouting career and progressing through the leadership and leadership training structures I completed my Pack Leader Training and was appointed Pack Leader at my local scout group.During my studies at The University of the Witwatersrand I was appointed as chairman of Wits University Tai Chi and Yuishinkai Kobujutsu sports club committee. It was during my studies in 2007 I found out about parkour. There were only about 6 people, including myself, in the country that knew what parkour was, let alone training. I discovered a passion for the sport and started to get involved in organizing events and training sessions. Eventually after the 2010 world cup I initiated a meeting in the budding industry that led to the founding of Parkour South Africa in 2014 as a not for profit organization where I was elected as a director, eventually being elected as the chief executive officer in 2016. As CEO and following the national and global growth of parkour, I was involved in the negotiations between 6 nations that got together to found the first international parkour federation called Parkour Earth in 2017. I served as an elected director on the first board.I have followed my passions to develop the communities I have been involved in. I have helped develop and establish a new industry and urban sport called Parkour in South Africa. I have been instrumental in the development of structural and procedural workings of a national and international organization.On most occasions I have had to learn by doing and have gained a lot of informal knowledge through my own research and putting that into practice. There are many challenges when developing something new with extremely limited resources and it has forced me to become efficient, creative and solution driven to reach and achieve my goals.
