Joined VM having advised the Virgin Group on a bid to acquire Northern Rock (NR) in 2007 whilst at EY. Helped transform VM with the acquisition of Northern Rock “good bank” & the acquisition of a £1bn card portfolio. Began career at Capital One managing credit limits on a card portfolio.A wide range of advisory experience, including on buy-outs, private equity and debt raisings, independent valuations, and acquisitions & disposals. Have advised on 30+ completed transactions with a total value in excess of £8bn since 2010.Notable transactions prior to joining Ashcombe include: the sales of Capital One’s French, South African and Italian card businesses, the MBO of Jupiter, the acquisition of Church House Trust, by VM, the equity injection of £100m by W L Ross into VM, the acquisition of NR, by VM, the acquisition of a £1bn card portfolio from MBNA by VM. At Ashcombe transactions included: the sale of Capquest to Arrow Global, the acquisition of Moneybarn by Provident, the acquisition of a stake in Lowell by Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, the acquisition of Five Arrows by Paragon, the sale of DLC to Cabot, the acquisitions of Enra by Exponent, of Loans at Home4U & George Banco by Non-Standard Finance, of Omni Capital Retail Finance by Castle Trust, of IGF by Spring Ventures, the sale of Franchise Finance to Hitach, advising the Virgin Group on the sale of VM to CYBG and the sale of Trussle to Better.Finance Monthly’s Deal Maker of the Year (UK) in 2015, ACQ5’s Deal Maker of the Year (UK) '16 and '17, CV Magazine’s FS Partner of the Year 2017 & Most Influential Partner of the Year FS '18.BSc in Mathematics & an MSc in Management Science Operational Research, both from the University of Warwick.
