Meica Project Director UkBarhale Ltd May 2023 - Mar 2024Walsall, West Midlands, GbAs MEICA Director my role and function were to create a new sustainable, efficient, and operational MEICA project business unit incorporated with its own P&L to enhance our position in the heavily controlled and regulated water, wastewater sectors. It was critical that my strategic approach created a series of high-level bespoke delivery strategies and commercial security to ensure success was achieved and incorporated the wider Barhale business offering. With a specific operational project delivery business plan, I created specific enablers to enable the MEICA business to effectively deliver high value short and long term projects, contracts and frameworks whilst meeting all aspects of safety, efficiency collaboration and quality outcomes. To date my Programme Area had delivered well above our affordability targets of 25%+, delivered each capital and maintenance scheme on time and below solution cost by 15%-25%, Maintained a reduction in our carbon footprint through innovative design and sustainability by near to 40% and reduced design and construction time by 50% in some cases in comparison to AMP4 and previous projects. -

Working with core and new client’s improving current and securing future opportunities.Main projects included:Secondary school in Milton Keynes with a pupil capacity for phase 1 of 800, phase 2&3 take the capacity to 1500+. I was responsible as Project Manager for the core construction build and M&E Installation through to commissioning, wholly responsible for the project budgets and accountable programme delivery. This project was a green construction and was brought in under time and under budget and handed over tot he client with extremely positive recognition.The Grove Theatre Dunstable and commercial units & leisure centre facilities upgrades, sequenced contract value £16 M. I was accountable and responsible as Project Manager for the M&E services installation of 6 off commercial units – leisure centre upgrade & theatre M&E installations including full commissioning and handover. This project was set to be delivered under budget and on time for a series of 3 opening’s, I left SDC before the completion of this project. -
Project Engineering ManagerThames Water May 2001 - May 2005Reading, Berkshire, GbProject Manager (Seafield Almond Valley & ESK Project “AVSEP”)Responsible as Thames Principle PM for the engineering, technical developments & construction completion and handover of a £90 m + STW upgrade incorporating 16 sites across the county. I was jointly responsible for the successful programming and completion of the project from construction activities through to M&E and commissioning handover to the client and operator Thames Water. This project included full plant upgrades from received raw water through to sustainable sludge management and quality final effluent.The AVSEP project was a big venture for Scottish Water & Stirling Water and was part of a large PFI with multiple partners, £65 m of the project was for the Seafield site where this was a very public operation attracting much media attention. The main project was delivered within time and £2.2 m under budget. Benefits of this project included the upgraded process systems and maximising plant output in volume and green sustainable energy.The key success to this project was the Anaerobic Digestion systems on 2 of the sites (Seafield & Newbridge) where digested gas from 8 digesters was produced to drive CHP engines that produced heat and power to the site and export of electricity to the grid. The CHP Bio Gas System saved the business through revenue annual OPEX of over £1 m. A key responsibility of mine was to ensure that the AD systems as with the LV & HV systems were designed – procured – constructed and project managed through to commissioning completion securing the forecast revenues. Upon final completion of the main project my role was to project manage the further upgrades and improvement as well as to maintain operations. -

Managing the project engineering and developing estimates and controlling budgets and programme as well financial and commercial activities to the value of over £3.4 m. One of my key projects was Project Afan (Port Talbot) for Hyder - DCWW a £80 m new waste water works; the scope included building and civil construction input - SBR process to sludge cake production and sludge drying by 2 Andritz dryers (pelletized). I was also accountable for the LV & HV electrical distribution systems as well as STOR & TRIAD Operations.Through my project I had over £5.2 m + of responsibility for the MCC’s and installation works, I was key to the delivery and timely completion of this project leading a team to design - install and commission all the MCC’s. I also managed the installation and commissioning budgets for the construction client Costain to the value of £1.4 m + reporting direct to the Hyder JV & Welsh Water board. For the success of this project I was awarded a commendation from Hyder DCWW and Costain board of Directors for assisting in brining in this high profile project in on time and within budget. -
