Provided process design support for a 20,000 barrel per day Renewable Diesel Plant which is currently operational within the Chalmette Refinery. Primary focus was on the outside battery limits infrastructure, and renewable feedstock pretreatment process design.

Provided process engineering support for the refinery Wastewater Treatment Plant, Flares, Docks, Slop Systems, Truck Loading Rack, LPG Rail Offloading Rack, LPG Spheres, Tanks, and Gasoline Blending systems.

Managed stakeholders, cost, and schedule on a variety of projects ranging from $100 - $500k TIC. Notable projects include new piping jumpovers, furnace burner management system improvements, pressure safety valve mitigations, improvements to flare infrastructure, and a Crude Unit heavy oil recovery optimization FEL1 evaluation.

Worked with project managers to assist in the development and execution of projects from FEL1 through commissioning and startup. Notable projects include design and install of a four spot LPG rail car offloading facility and a overhaul to an existing CFHT.

Coordinated FEED and detailed design for an Ethanol rail offload facility and a bulk storage terminal / truck loading facility. (~$2 MM in engineering services). Updated project budget & earned value, created and updated project schedule, managed project change & created change orders when necessary. Facilitated communication between the client and the Keystone project team.

Performed PSV Sizing & Flare System Analyses per API 520 and 521. Performed process design and assisted with startup and commissioning for a deiosbutanizer tower. Developed process models of two chemical process trains including reaction and separation steps in order to estimate air emissions for an air permit modification utilizing Aspen HYSYS. Evaluated existing reactor condenser to determine if it was fit for service after a process throughput increase utilizing HYSYS Rigorous Exchanger. Began assisting with project management by creating and updating project schedule, budget, and earned value.

Chemical Plants and Refineries:Lead a design team for SRU Oxygen Enrichment project. Utilized HYSYS and Pipe Flow to perform process hydraulic calculations and PSV inlet and outlet pressure drop studies. Developed full construction packages. Functioned as the client’s direct contact during construction for multiple projects responding to RFIs and helping to resolve conflicts.Tertiary Oil Recovery:Performed FEED study for CO2 injection field utilizing HYSYS to perform hydraulic calculations. Lead preliminary design of EOR field central processing facility. Performed preliminary design for three separate CO2 capture facilities on existing Amine plants by evaluating different process scenarios and compressors.Offshore GroupPerformed mechanical calculations to certify the weight limits for removal of platform helipad. Performed material balances to determine the total volume of condensate, water, and gas on a platform by using incoming flow rates from producing wells at any given time. Assisted with permitting requirements from regulatory agency for pipeline lowering project.

Reviewed applications and wrote permits for wastewater discharges from industrial facilities. Reviewed DMRs from industrial facilities to ensure all facilities were in compliance and wrote enforcement actions when necessary. Established a database system to make the determination and issuance of enforcement actions more efficient. Investigated complaints received by the department. Received OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training August 2nd- 7th, 2010.

Worked with CFDRC on a glucose powered fuel cell. Performed CV experiments on different enzyme and glucose concentrations to optimize the current generated by the fuel cell. Used VMP3 potentiostat, Pine rotator, electrochemical cells, Pine rotating disk electrode, and autopipettes.

Developed procedures for plating Co and Ni on an aluminum support to be used as a catalyst in a CO2 reduction reaction. Tested the plated support in a BOSCH reaction test stand to determine the single pass efficiency of different catalysts. Used a gas chromatograph, flow controllers, LabVIEW, and Swagelok fittings.

Ran five experiments over the course of five weeks. Wrote proposals and reports for each experiment detailing the theory behind the experiment, the procedure to be used, and the results achieved. Operated a pilot scale distillation column and evaporator. Gave a 20 minute presentation on the distillation experiment. Used enzymes, spectroscopy, piping equipment, heat exchanger, and distillation tower.
