Founder
Conceived, founded and bootstrapped HealthCom Partners in 1995 based on my innovation developed for RUSH Medical Center to humanize and simplify medical billing in the healthcare industry. Designed and created the products, marketing strategies and go-to-market sales strategy that touched over 35 million patients. Without external investment, led business development efforts to scale HealthCom to 200+ leading-edge hospitals with 80% market share in Chicago, St.Louis, Kansas City and the Bay Area.In 2001, HealthCom created a new paradigm for patient portals by connecting patients to the first-ever online patient financial engagement platform called PatientCompass and allowed patients to pay their hospital and physician bills together with a single payment. In 2002, I opened up the west coast HealthCom office in California, introducing PatientCompass to 48 hospitals over a two year period. Clients included Stanford Health, Cedars-Sinai, UCSF, Sutter Health, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, John Muir Health, Memorial Care, Cottage Health, INTEGRIS, Henry Ford Health System, Duke Health, St.Lukes Health, Mercy St.Louis, Novant Health, Advocate Health, BJC Healthcare and Northwestern Medicine. Two of the four members of the Healthcare Financial Management/American Hospital Association Patient-Friendly Billing Task Force that was set up to create national standards/guidelines for the US Healthcare System used HealthCom Partners products. HealthCom Partners acquired by McKesson, a Fortune 16 company in 2006. In the first year, McKesson closed $49 million (3 year contracts) of new business.
