As protected characteristics lead for sexual orientation I support the Commission to in developing expertise across policy issues relating to sexual orientation and acting as a key point of contact connecting key internal and external stakeholder.

I am responsible for providing strategic leadership across the Commission in relation to horizon scanning and achieving impact. I support the strategic lead across our core aim; institutions priority aim and access to justice priority aim.

I am responsible for leading the Commission work in Wales on participation. This includes representation of in public and political life, freedom of expression,access to services, privacy and surveillance, social and community cohesion.I have lead a range of work to increase knowledge and understanding of the Public Sector Equality Duty among civil society and the third sector in Wales. I lead our digital communications work in Wales managing our webpages and social media activity in Wales.In addition to this play an active role in coordinating our stakeholder engagement across the Wales team.

During my time as stakeholder relations managers I developed and strengthened the Commission in Wales' relationships with the third sector. I led a range of events including consultation on our strategic plan, and our equality and human rights exchange regional events.

In this role I was responsible for leading the offices work on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. I provided advice and support to the Human Resources team, the National Statistician and senior colleagues across the organisation. I developed and implemented an organisational strategy on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. This strategy was supported by a series of action plans. I significantly raised the profile this work within the organisation but also highlighted the work we were doing externally. During my time working on diversity and inclusion, including my time as chair of the LGBT network, we increased our position in the Stonewall index each year. We were also shortlisted for numerous awards across the Civil Service and the wider sector. Key responsibilities included:- Supporting and advising on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion issues- Producing the Equality and Diversity Report, and the Diversity Dashboard- Manage and support the 15 diversity network groups across all three ONS sites- Project manage ad-hoc ED&I project work- Manage the Equality and Diversity Budget- Ensure ONS was legally compliant with the Equality Act 2010- Provide strategic equality and diversity advise to ONS as a business

In my time as a Research Office I worked on the Cancer and End of Life Care analysis team producing statistics relating to cancer incidence, mortality and survival. In this role I was responsible for a number of publications, responding to customer queries, managing the customer inbox and answering parliamentary questions. Prior to this I worked in the ONS Social Survey Division on the Living Costs and Food Survey where I was involved in the production of the questionnaire, data manipulation, analysis and dissemination of survey findings, in the annual publication 'Family Spending' and responding to ad-hoc customer requests.
