Heading up a new team established in the marketing department of British Gypsum. Responsibility for identifying new opportunity spaces derived from insight that will drive market growth. Bringing design thinking methods into the business alongside innovation consultancy Ideo and helping to establish new product propositions supported with communication and experience.

Heading up the new product development process based within the technical department introducing stage and gate process into the business and establishing an innovation culture within the business. Introduced and embedded portfolio management techniques ensuring that the business is able to defend its market position whilst ring fencing resource for strategic growth activities. Headed up the Product Management Review during the introduction of the Oliver Wight IBM business process and led the review to achieve Class A capable.

Headed up the UKAS accredited test centre conducting fire, acoustic and structural testing on building products. Established the BTC as a Notified Body. Also headed up the systems development function for British Gypsum developing new products and systems to meet the needs of the construction industry. Represented the business on trade association technical committees GPDA, CPA, Eurogypsum. Key role in establishing the Robust Details scheme for house builders as an acoustic and industry expert. Robust Detail inspector from 2005 till 2017 inspecting and assuring the standard of construction on house builder sites.

Running the UKAS accredited fire test laboratory conducting fire resistance and reaction to fire test on building materials and systems. Successfully introducing new Euroclass testing facilities. FTSG technical committee chairman and executive member deriving extended application assessment principles.

Conducting laboratory and site measurements of sound insulation. Providing internal and external acoustic consultancy on building acoustic issues.
