Working within the Long Term Innovation Team, developing novel Sustainable Polymeric materials across all business sectors within Croda. This covers the entire NPD spectrum from initial idea through towards commercialisation working with multiple functions to maximise success.

Working within R&D in the Speciality Polymer Group to develop new and innovative water based polymer products from initial concept to full scale production. This includes both conventional and inverse emulsion technologies.One of my primary areas and research interests is the development of Scott Bader thickeners (HASE, ASE, hydrolysable type polymers) in a water based emulsion system for a wide range of applications. One of these areas has lead to a patent being granted with myself and a fellow colleague as inventor.I am responsible for leading and driving multiple projects, both in the short and long term development of the business strategy, and for assisting production in any issues that may arise.Recently started to manage a 12-month undergraduate placement student who is working on a speculative piece of work to support our knowledge and understanding in an relatively new area for SB.

The aim of my PhD project funded by the EPSRC, and BASF: The Chemical Company, was to investigate alkali-soluble resins (ASR)-stabilized emulsion polymerizations with a focus on understanding the processes of ASR dissolution, particle nucleation and the grafting of ASRs in the production of stable, high solids content (up to 50%) latexes with good control of particle diameter (< 200 nm).

Area of research in analytical and environmental chemistry. Investigating molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs) and their applications through a wide range of analytical techniques e.g. NMR, UV-vis spectroscopy, HPLC, and cyclic voltammetry.
