I made the decision in January 2019 to close my sucessful consultancy practise of over 10 years, and take up the offer of full time Director of Finance with Actuation Valve.Having worked closely with Actuation Valve as an external consultant since 2015. I am excited to become a full time member of a forward thinking company who is delivering exceptional products and technical services to its ever growing UK and International customer base.

Established my own consultancy business in 2008. I have been involved with a wide variety businesses from Global organisations to SME’s, in a diverse range of sectors, Automotive Engineering, Telecoms, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Commercial Vehicle Hire, Mobile Dentistry and Government funded organisations. Working closely both supporting and mentoring senior board members. Currently retained as Finance Director for Actuation Valve and Control Limited and its sister company internet based, Click Valve Limited, my remit is to assist the board of directors to develop and deliver strategies for development and growth of both businesses. Previously I successfully completed a two year contract with Agility Logistics an $5b turnover global logistics group, in the Specialty Chemicals Division. Reporting to the CFO global chemicals and holding line manager responsibility for the UK based Finance team. Prior to this I have worked with various SME’s in acquisition, profit focus and strategic development.• Developed various strategic reviews and presented options and solutions on behalf of the Electrical and Engineering Federation and Manufacturing Advisory Service. • Designed and led investigations in high profile financial, legal, HR, IT and Market Due Diligences’ reported in the media by BBC West Midlands and Telegraph newspaper. Which lead to a £1.4m order, doubling the companies turnover.• Successfully implemented the staging of a clients workplace pensions scheme.• Delivered the transition to FRS 102 for a large UK GAAP client• Designed and Implemented planning tools, KPI’s and targets, for several struggling SME’s. improving profit performance, and focusing development strategies.

CFO and responsible for the day to day running and strategic development of the Innovate group’s Finances. T/O £200m+, 2000 employees. The group was successfully sold in 2006/2007 to a listed global logistics group. • Personally wrote and delivered a five year fully integrated business model for all group companies refocusing direction and strengthened cash reporting systems. The model was audited by KPMG as part of an external due diligence process and became the foundation for group development.• Strengthened relationships with American and leading UK property syndicates and commercial banks - essential to securing key funding for property developments. Total project values £200m. • Delivered and negotiated the financial elements of multi-million pound tenders and contracts with leading UK brands.• Introduced focused procurement strategies implementing control and generating £1m+ cost reductions.• Responsible for and actively hands on, in the financial and due diligence aspects of several “whitewash” exercises and ultimate trade sale of the business.

I joined Bibby Distribution on an interim role, reporting to the board, I was asked to evaluate various problems of a loss making subsidiary.• Implemented a rigid cost control system. Personally signing off all expenditure jointly with general manager, savings impact c. £40,000 per week. (Without damage to service).• Focused Management, identified operational, warehousing and distribution weaknesses and solutions, worked with and mentored the warehouse / operations manager and distribution fleet manager.• Delivered the rationalisation of two businesses into one unit.

Joined in 1989, and by 1991 was promoted to Group Chief Accountant and was instrumental in the floation of the company in 1994.
