Tasks undertaken include:-Producing bespoke financial models in excel, for various clients including to undertake financial modelling of cargo handling facilities, airports and tourist and leisure developments. Financial analysis of a number of development options to calculate the potential costs or benefits for developing land, including calculating land value for government sale of land to developers. Socio-economic analysis of development areas, discussing the current population and places of business within districts. Bid preparation, including determining team composition, relevant credentials and our response to the briefs. Ad hoc research on numerous topics around PPP development issues in East Asia and seaports.

Within the Economics Unit of the Country Analysis business, producing macroeconomic and political forecasts. The role was focused on Asia and involved working with country analysts, providing assistance, support and training as they produce macroeconomic forecasts in excel with our econometric models, ensuring the macroeconomic consistency of our forecasting and providing support to the Custom Research team in the production of bespoke forecasts.Conducting workshops and presentations on economic theory for clients and colleagues to explain the Economist Intelligence Unit’s products and services in detail and how they could best use the services for their needs.Producing Visual Basics for Applications code to modify and improve the excel workbooks.Implemented an improvement plan for around 120 country workbooks. Planned improvements to the workbooks to clean up and simplify the workbooks which was undertaken by myself the team. Produced VBA code to assist the process.Integrating the new Balance of Payments methodology across our country workbooks, working out what has changed and how best to implement the changes into our workbooks and publish the data. Liaising internally to analysts and regional heads about the changes and how it would affect their forecasts and external data partners about the changes to the series.Analysed how switching from excel 2003 file format to excel 2007 file format workbooks would affect the production system and process. Undertake custom econometric research and projects for clients, using macroeconomic theory and econometric techniques in EViews and Excel to deliver bespoke research projects. Projects I was involved in totalled around $500k, with around 50% of the clients engaging the Economist Intelligence Unit in further consulting. These projects involved quarterly world GDP forecasts, worldwide intermediate expenditure for a payments processor and sector specific GDP forecasts.

Management of a support email box to which queries from both external clients and editors were sent. Production of a custom data tool for clients, this involved running Visual Basics code, checking data and correcting any issues before sending the finished product to the client. Liaising with the clients when they had requests for changes and improvements or had issues with the data.Explaining economic theory and data to both our external clients and internal analysts. Delivered three major projects in a local authority setting, providing research and analysis in the Economic and Cultural Development department including:Planned and delivered a research project to establish the value of membership of a multi-agency partnership Creation of online survey and devised interview questions targeted towards senior members from public, private and voluntary sector of the Local Strategic Partnership Steering Group to assess the quantitative and qualitative value derived from involvement in the Partnership. Analysis of the results helped to provide justification for involvement and suggestions for improving the partnership. As a result of the research, the partnership is embarking on a "function and form" review.Planned, created and delivered an online leisure and recreation survey of leisure and recreation facilities users and clubs, to create an evidence base of facility usage and desired future developments. The results of which I used to produce a final report that will be used as the evidence base for a land-use planning policy document.Undertaken a tourist accommodation audit to increase the understanding of the accommodation profile of the district examining quality standards and quantity of businesses and bed numbers in order to improve the understanding of the council. Outcome was a flexible and user-friendly database.
