I work with academic colleagues to create engaging, high quality online experiences ranging from one hour self-access CPD courses to Masters level modules.

I worked as Learning Technologist in the Academic Development Team, creating and maintaining online instructional materials in the field of Information Literacy. I wrote the University tutorial on searching the web and helped develop materials on reference management software and searching databases. I was the Library representative on the Blackboard 9.1 pilot group and wrote recommendations to Library management concerning use of Organisations and the Content Collection. I trained a small team of Librarians in web editing using Dreamweaver using screencaptures and web documents. This team was able to carry out a major upgrade of the Information Skills Resource. I also wrote the first report into use of the resource using Google Analytics. I also developed bespoke mash up tools for the Library, filtering RSS feeds using Yahoo Pipes.

I worked extensively on the Virtual Graduate School project. This was a range of resources for Postgraduate Researchers and their supervisors, encompassing standalone self-access materials all the way up to completed taught modules either for blended, face to face or entirely online delivery. At the heart of the materials was a bank of video narratives in which supervisors, researchers, students, journal editors and reviewers relate their experiences and insights. These videos were indexed by transcript, keyword and theme and were made available on a fully searchable website along with supporting resources. I also gave staff training sessions on the use of the Ning environment, Skype, Wimba Create and other tools and assisted in the development of online Masters programmes within the VLE including the MA in New Literacies with Dr Julia Davies.

I taught English as a Foreign Language and Spanish. Exams I prepared students for included IELTS, KET, PET and CAE in English, BEC in Business English and GCSE Spanish. I worked as a Cambridge examiner for CAE and BEC during this time. I was the College's principle teacher of Business English, developing bespoke courses both one-to-one and in groups for clients from European, Latin American and Asian countries.

I learned how to teach as part of a professional and highly supportive team. I was also able to develop my interests in the use of group work, games, authentic interaction and music to aid learning.
